Reveal your secrets, then you can live

It’s funny. When you throw the word “secret” at people, most drift off to the dark side. (Not talking politics here peeps.) Some minds land on something they did in the past and have tried to keep anyone from knowing (think college spring break) while others will fly forward and think about any one of the things they really want― or really wish for―but keep hidden from others … maybe because they’re afraid to let anyone really know them. Maybe because they’re embarrassed or think others will laugh at them if they reveal their secrets … their desires … their wants.

But here’s the thing, if you don’t find someone―anyone―to confide in, you’ll rot inside. And there is no secret too damaging nor too absurd that can’t be shared. Be cautions, sure, of whom you choose to disclose your true self too, but at the same time, don’t be so cautious you never take the risk of being vulnerable. Because sometimes it’s the secrets we share that save us.

“And when at last you find someone to whom you feel you can pour out your soul, you stop in shock at the words you utter—they are so rusty, so ugly, so meaningless and feeble from being kept in the small cramped dark inside you so long.” ― Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath

Just something to think about … and for the record, if you have a secret you want to send my way, I promise not to laugh, not to judge, not to do anything more than listenwho knows, maybe someday you’ll return the favor ;)

DISCLAIMER: I’m a writer and editor. And I try my best to make sure every post is articulate and free from errors. However, being that I edit my own work—and it’s next to impossible to properly edit your own work—I admit, occasionally there may be an error or two I miss. But doing so doesn’t make me an idiot so don’t be mean. Just smile, pat yourself on the back for finding an error and be glad you’re not the only one who makes mistakes sometimes … xoxox
