Let’s talk football. Or not. I mean really, we don’t need to talk … I’m not much of a phone person and since you’re not sitting next to me, well, talking just isn’t going to be an option … unless I give you my phone number and I’m not doing that, so moving on … let’s talk football.
Until a few minutes ago—go ahead and prepare yourself to laugh now—I thought Baker Mayfield (did I spell that right) was a boxer. So, why is he playing football?? Oh, come on, I cannot be the only one. Right?? Am I right?? Anyone?
In my defense, when I was very young, I loved LOVED Sugar Ray Leonard … so much so that I was obsessed with the ‘76 Olympic team. Lightweight, featherweight, super feather?? Bantam, heavy, middle … SIDEBAR how many divisions even are there? And why? For those of you who frequent here, you might know I was a pretty damn good runner at one time, but I didn’t get to choose who I competed against based on their size? When I was a freshman in high school (let alone college) I had to compete against “faster,” “stronger,” seniors … and hell yes I won (I do know a few guys who were seniors when I was a freshman who can attest to this) so … why do boxers get to compete against different “levels” … OH, right … weight class. OK. Fine. Whatever.
Moving on … as it turns out Baker Mayfield is QB1 for the Cleveland Browns. Oddly, I only recently decided the Browns are my favorite pro team … I mean have you seen their new uniforms?? I’m not a big fan of orange and black (Oregon State Beavers, bleck!!!) but the Browns got the combo right. So, what’s not to love? Besides, wasn’t Chris Collinsworth a receiver there in the ‘80s? Oh snap. That was Cinnci? Right? Well, at least I got the state right.
Speaking of uniforms, have you seen the new LA Rams uniforms?? Maybe I should like them too? Oh, and the NY Jets … major kudos on the helmets!!
xoxoxox peeps … I’d write more but one, no one is probably still reading and two, I gotta go watch San Diego whip up on Pittsburgh. Wait. When did the Chargers move to LA??? For a girl who knows the difference between a tackle, a guard, and an end, let alone what an audible is or what it means to be an illegal receiver … I’m beyond confused. Ugh. Regardless, WHO DOESN’T LOVE SOME FOOTBALL!!!
