“Natures first green is gold, Her hardest hue to old. Her early leaf’s a flower, But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf, So Eden sank to grief. So, dawn goes down today, Nothing gold can stay.” ~ Robert Frost
I memorized this poem the first time I ever heard it … I was probably 12 or 13 but I don’t think I understood the reference to youth. Nor did I comprehend the ultimate implication that lies in understanding that youth—like nature’s gold and like Eden—eventually, albeit slowly, slips away. Still, I find it lovely and if anything, inspiring. Because although youth in itself may slowly evaporate, her memories and lessons will linger and it’s up to you to heed what you will. In other words, don’t wait until it’s too late to open your eyes … even the smallest of revelations can be big.
Stay gold Ponyboy. Stay gold.
Today’s post totally and completely inspired by S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders.

However, being that I edit my own work—and it’s next to impossible to properly edit your own work—I admit, occasionally there may be an error or two I miss. But doing so doesn’t make me an idiot so don’t be mean. Just smile, pat yourself on the back for finding an error and be glad you’re not the only one who makes mistakes sometimes … xoxox
