You. At the grocery. At your workout club. On the golf course. At your son’s school, your daughter’s soccer game, your friend’s baby shower, your husband’s work party …
Wherever YOU are—or you were—remember that thing you overheard? Or that juicy little tidbit Suzy told you? That she swore was true because John told her and Matt told him and well, you know, it just had to be true because why else would Matt have said it.
Uh, hu. Right.
“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” ~ Marcus Aurelius
When you’re driving down the highway and some guy cuts you off, doesn’t even signal, and proceeds to speed away unaffected by his rudeness—YOU, swear at him, call him names, get flustered, and assume he’s a major jackass … when in all actuality, he’s driving erratically because he just got a phone call from the hospital and the love of his life is in a coma after being struck by a drunk driver.
What if, for one day the human race was able to see the truth in every action, every circumstance, every situation—be it good or bad. Would we treat each other differently if that truth revealed a person’s true and entire situation? Would we?
If I had a vile of truth serum, I wouldn’t use it to ask a politician a question. I wouldn’t use it to solve a murder mystery. I wouldn’t use it find out anything that I don’t already know. What would be the point? Life’s a lovely, enigmatic thing to be blessed with and I for one am enjoying the journey just as it is. Now find me a vile filled with aqua de vita from the Fountain of Youth and you’ll get a whole ‘nother story—that vile I could use 😉
Cover image created with Google AI … maybe I should ask “him/her” to make me a vial of aqua de vita.
DISCLAIMER: I’m a writer and an editor. And I try my best to make sure every post is articulate and free from errors. However, being that I edit my own work—and it’s next to impossible to properly edit your own work—I admit, occasionally there may be an error or two I miss. But doing so doesn’t make me an idiot so don’t be mean. Just smile, pat yourself on the back for finding an error and be glad you’re not the only one who makes mistakes sometimes … xoxox
